Corner 17 is a Chinese restaurant nestled in the heart of University City along Delmar Boulevard, offering a straightforward, approachable spot to enjoy authentic Chinese comfort food with a distinctly local twist. The moment you step inside, the open kitchen window catches your eye—here you can see handmade noodles, dumplings, and bao being crafted, which adds a welcoming, hands-on feel to the dining experience.

The atmosphere is casual and lively, well suited for weekday dinners with friends or family outings when you’re craving homestyle flavors rooted in traditional recipes. The space feels unpretentious but warm, with attentive service that balances efficiency and friendliness without feeling rushed.

Food-wise, Corner 17 shines with its range of dumplings, especially the soup dumplings and pan-fried versions, which draw praise for their juicy texture and quality fillings. The Handmade Wonton with Homemade Chili Sauce is a standout if you enjoy a bit of a spicy kick, while the variety of baos offers both sweet and savory options—from taro to pork-filled versions. For those who like a bit of freshness alongside the staple dishes, cold fruit teas such as the Super Grapefruit Green Tea and Lime Yogurt Jasmine Tea provide a bright, sweet contrast—just be aware that these drinks lean toward the sweeter side and aren’t subtle on condensed dairy.

Corner 17’s menu also features familiar favorites like Mapo Tofu and Sesame Chicken, as well as house specialties like west lake beef soup and unique items like peanut butter noodles, showing a blend of regional Chinese styles that hint at the owners’ roots and culinary influences.

Locals seem to appreciate Corner 17 not only for the food’s authenticity but also as a place of community. It clearly serves those who seek genuine Chinese tastes without the pretense, including people who have lived in China or Singapore and find this spot captures a comparable quality and flavor profile. The casual vibe and family-run energy also make it a comfortable spot to linger or return to regularly, especially for anyone who enjoys watching the skill behind the scenes and appreciates small, thoughtful details in food preparation.

Overall, Corner 17 works best for anyone interested in authentic Chinese dishes presented in a welcoming, low-key setting that highlights handmade elements. If you’re visiting during the evening or at a relaxed weekend lunch, you’ll likely find a friendly, no-fuss environment paired with reasonably priced, satisfying plates that feel both familiar and thoughtful in execution.

I used to live in china and Singapore . This is as authentic as it will get in St. Louis. quality is great. Soup dumplings are a must Their boba teas are good but only recommend them if you have a strong stomach. It’s very sweet and loaded with a lot of condensed dairy

What a fun place! Great food. Love the kitchen window where you can watch noodles, dumplings and bao being made. Corner 17 has an amazing story. Proud to support this family business. Best of luck C17!

On my first visit to this establishment, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The dumplings were particularly noteworthy, with their soft and juicy texture. The pork was also delectable and tender, making it a dish worth trying.

This was my first visit, and I was thoroughly impressed. The beef egg rolls were absolutely delicious—freshly prepared and served piping hot. I also tried the sweet and sour pork, which was just as good. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and the atmosphere was spot-on. Add in a great location, and you’ve got a winner. I’ll definitely be back!

One of my favorite StL restaurants! Highly recommended!! Lemon Chicken, Mapo Tofu, Wontons with chili sauce, Scallion pancakes, Dry sauteed string beans, never had an unsatisfying meal here. Fantastic service. Would come here once a week if I lived closer!

I enjoyed an early birthday celebration with a friend tonight. This has a variety of traditional and Americanized food. The open kitchen is a cool addition to this fantastic restaurant. You can watch them hand-pull noodles and make everything through the large window. We started out with the beef egg rolls. They were large and crispy. And we also ordered some of the dumplings in chili oil. I ordered the Sweet and Sour Flounder and it was absolutely amazing! The food is always consistent and full of flavor. I highly recommend checking it out if you haven't.

Sorry, I took the photos halfway through the meal. Ramon place on the loop on Delmar north side of the street. Server was friendly and really helpful and actually boxed up Mike to go leftover soup. Spicy steamed potstickers were good. Nice and tender served nice and hot. Fried potstickers were also good Clean dining room we were able to sit next to the window and watch the making noodles and bao. The traditional bao were nice and tender, but didn’t have much flavor. Glad we had the leftover chili oil from the potstickers. The broth in the soup was good, but nothing special. The noodles were good. Some of the beef was pretty grizzly.

1st at the brick and mortar after having done delivery many times. Everything is fresh as it gets as you can watch them make the noodles in house and dumplings. Went with the lime braised shrimp and a take hone if cumin lamb. As always stellar especially the shumai app and the wontons w chili oil.
